Talking about writing workshop
I don't think blogging will ever be my go to thing when I am wanting to express my thoughts. It still feels alien to me writing this. I thought about the last time (before this course) I wrote something with intentions of others seeing it, and I do it every day in the form of a text message. How can writing your views on a subject on social media or a text message feel so different to blogging.
The recent work shop on 'talking about writing' with the guest speaker Peter Thomas was refreshing and also a god send to help me begin getting ideas and thoughts down on paper to start writing. In past modules I have gone through the process of writing bullet points on ideas, but I do this throughout the day, so when I come back to that bullet point my thoughts are lost or irrelevant because I can't remember the intentions. Writing continuously to get everything down on paper was difficult to do, my thoughts can sometimes be fragmented as the thought/idea isn't quite finished, and trying not to re-read my work was painful, but forcing my self to stay focused was something I need to practice and can definitely learn from.
I really enjoyed the workshop as it felt like a lecture. This is something I have struggled with on this course. We are all on a reflective journey and learning from ourselves and others, but sometimes on the Skypes I get lost as I feel it is all very...philosophical. We are all put into a virtual room together, we get given a starting idea, and then we all have to give a thought on it or expand the idea. But what if I don't have anything to say instantaneously? Sometimes I hear an idea that I resonate with and can input my thoughts but other sessions I fee like I just want to sit in the background and listen. I have learnt so much from being put in that situation as it does make you think about subjects your wouldn't have pondered about, but having a Skype which I viewed more like a lecture was exactly what I needed to help me get started.
I hope that everyone enjoyed the workshop!!
