Isolation Lockdown

For those who are new to my blog, I am a dance and yoga teacher in a school for special educational needs and disability (SEND), and I also work in a private dance school a few nights a week teaching ISTD syllabus in tap, modern and ballet. Unfortunately due to the current situation around Covid-19 the dance school has closed for the foreseeable, which is extremely sad but others are in this very same situation. I miss my students so much, they were meant to be doing their annual show this week!! We are keeping spirits high by constantly posting on the schools instagram page and streaming live or pre-recorded classes. I am still working during the day as the school as this place of work falls into the 'vulnerable' section and we are required to keep providing services for the students who need additional care.

Due to the vulnerability of some students we have been forced to go into a lockdown in some of the homes connected to the school and college. I have been working and living in one of the adult homes for a period of 14 days making sure that the service users come into contact with as few people as possible. I work with these individuals every day during a 'normal working day' and I am currently aiming to keep them all as safe as I possibly can during this uncertain time. However, coping without a routine and living and woking in the same area 24/7, without my personal belongings for 14 days solid was very difficult. I worked hard on getting my module 2 materials ready as I knew I wouldn't get a lot of opportunity to do much during isolation. This time in the home was a huge learning curve and I have a lot of reflection to consider which I will be blogging about. I am back to day work in the school and college for the next two weeks and then I will be back in the same home again.

We are all stuck in different situations and everything is very uncertain at the moment, but we have to keep going. We have to remain positive. The facebook page has really helped me ask quick questions to fellow module 2 students and to see questions arising from module 3 students also. I have taken hold of my own study even more so due to the next few week, and 'booked in' Skype sessions with my tutor and tune into as many group sessions as possible. The BA PP community at this time has been such a distraction and also a focus during this very weird time and I am very thankful for it.

Hi Alison! Your work sounds so interesting, you have got your hands full. Life will hopefully go back to normal in July, but who knows. I have been keeping as much structure as I can, and this course has been great at keeping me busy and distracted too.

Hi Serina, I agree that the course has been helpful in keeping a focus and slight normality to a very crazy time. It definitely helps setting goals and little miles stones. Hope you are doing well with your studies and work
